Inner Wild Counselling

Ecotherapy in Shropshire

Ecotherapy uses the natural environment as part of the therapeutic process. Sessions can include mindful observation, nature connection, sitting, walking or other activities that encourage you to engage with your surroundings.

What is Ecotherapy?

Ecotherapy is a nature-based approach that brings therapeutic conversation and reflection into natural outdoor settings. Rather than sitting indoors, sessions can take place in parks, woodland areas and quiet walking routes across Shropshire.

Being outdoors can offer a different environment for counselling, with space to walk, pause, notice your surroundings and explore what is happening in your life at a comfortable pace.

The pace can be slow.
The environment can feel grounding.
And nature becomes part of the therapeutic process.

How Ecotherapy Works

Ecotherapy combines therapeutic conversation with time spent outdoors. Depending on what feels comfortable for you, a session might involve walking, sitting, noticing your surroundings, mindful activities or simply taking time to pause.

There is no requirement to be particularly “outdoorsy”. The pace, route and activities can be adapted around your preferences and the environment.

The natural environment can provide space to slow down, pause and notice what is happening around you. We can walk, find stillness when needed and choose routes that feel comfortable, while using the outdoor setting as part of the therapeutic conversation.
